Heaven and Earth. The spiritual and the natural. The inner life and the physical life. The mystical and the mundane. Where do they meet?
These 2 realities seems worlds apart, and most often they feel like it too. But life was never meant to be that way. One day, I believe, the physical and natural realms will be unified once again. When I write those words it seems wild to think a thought like that, but it is the very hope of the Christian life- that we will live with God forever, face to face, our Great Inheritance. The Bible is full of wild, beautiful, and unimaginable realities. What is impossible with humans is possible with God.
With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ. Ephesians 1
Presently, we live in a great tension between the “now and not yet” (using “Vineyard” language 😉 ). The Kingdom of God (Kingdom of Heaven) lives within God’s children, it is advancing through the Body of Christ, and it is yet to come in its fullest physical reality. So is it here, or is it coming? Yes.
God also made physical things. He crafted nature with great intent, beauty, and purpose. God called created, physical, natural things GOOD. So I choose to do the same. I choose to walk with God in both prayer and clothing my body, in studying the Word and in preparing food, in ministering to the heart and ministering physical healing. We are made to interact with God in both the mystical and the mundane because He made it all.
This Christmas season, as we remember and celebrate the first coming of Jesus, we look forward and anticipate His final return and the coming age of the total union of the mystical and mundane.
I thought at first this blog would be mostly all about the mystical side of life, but there are so many mundane (earthy) things that I find joy in. I hope you will enjoy added categories and pages of my favorite “reads” and “tunes”. There will probably be more to come in the future, maybe “places” and “things”. If you know me, you know I am a particular person and I like a lot of specific things 🙂 This will be a morphing adventure, friends, so hang on!
